Our story...

"Hosts in Cartagena" was born from the idea of ​​the first clients that our CEO, Jhoselyn, received and served while working for other companies, these customers gave her enough encouragement to become an entrepreneurial woman in the tourism field of the city of Cartagena de Indias.

Thanks to the constant support of our vice president, José, and the motivation of all the third parties who have worked as a team with Jhoselyn, and the creativity of many friends, our CEO accepted the challenge of entering the world of tourism agencies in Cartagena. 

After receiving about 4 groups in a completely independent way, our CEO began to imagine, put on paper and develop what would be our official name and image: 

"I thought of many names, most of them had the word "concierge" and for some reason it didn't quite convince me so I started looking for the official meanings of each word that occurred to me and its possible translations.

The individual who is in charge of guiding and taking care of groups during their stay in Cartagena is generally called "concierge", and it is the trade that most english-speaking tourists understand. However, "concierge" in Spanish translates as "conserje" (janitor), which means "person who is in charge of the keys of a building or establishment, takes care of its maintenance, surveillance, cleaning and performs unskilled work". This definition is far from specifying the functions of the Hosts in Cartagena team!

For its part, the word "host", or "anfitrión" in Spanish, refers to "person who has guests at home, attends them properly and offers them their attention". There I knew what would be the name with which I would like to introduce myself to everyone. I love the idea of ​​referring to my clients as my guests and to everyone who works hand in hand with me as a host, since we all receive travelers in our house, Cartagena, and we take care of providing the best care so their stay will be simply unique and memorable. And that is why today you know us as Hosts in Cartagena!"
